A Day at Cumberland
In 2025, Cumberland provided 23,036 days of care. Through July 2026, we have already provided 18,017 days of care, each representing another day of support for our residents & clients.
What does a day of care look like?
At Cumberland Youth & Family Services, there is no single answer. For every child, young adult, parent, and family we serve, a day of care can look different as we meet their individual needs. But at the heart of each day is the same thing: safety, support, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.
For a single-parent family living on our campus through our Family Residential Program, a day of care might include a parenting class, financial coaching, or a counseling session. It might mean meeting with a case manager to work toward personal goals or connecting with a volunteer who offers encouragement and practical support. Sometimes, it simply means knowing that you are surrounded by a community of other parents who understand what it is like to navigate life's challenges while raising a family.
Most importantly, families find a safe, supportive place to call home while they work toward greater stability and independence.
For a child in our Foster Care and Adoption Program, a day of care means something different. It means having their basic needs met in a safe, family-based foster home. It means having the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities, celebrate birthdays and milestones, make memories, and experience the everyday moments of childhood in a home environment where they can feel safe and supported.
For young adults who have aged out of foster care in our Supervised Independent Living Program, a day at Cumberland is about learning to live independently while knowing they do not have to do it alone. Through case management, counseling, educational support, career guidance, and life-skills development, young adults have a safety net as they navigate adulthood and work toward their goals.
And beyond our campus, Cumberland provides care to individuals and families throughout our community. Through our Community Counseling Program, uninsured and underinsured children, teens, and adults in Denton County can access affordable mental health services. For many, that day of care may be the day they finally ask for help, begin working through a difficult experience, or take an important step toward healing.
While a day of care may look different for everyone we serve, the purpose remains the same as we work to keep kids safe and families together.
