Community Counseling Program

Cumberland Youth & Family Services offers low-cost counseling sessions for children, teens, adults, and families. Our therapists use trauma-informed counseling approaches and various modalities. We are currently accepting new clients.
Our Lewisville Community Counseling Clinic is at 907 W. Main Street in Lewisville. We rent space from First Lewisville United Methodist with a private entrance in the back of the church. All counseling services are secular.
Counseling services at Cumberland are available to those insured by Cigna and to City of Lewisville residents who are uninsured or underinsured and lack the necessary coverage for counseling. We offer in-person and Telehealth video conference options.

The intake appointment is free and after that your cost depends on insurance coverage and income qualifications.
If you have Cigna insurance the cost is your copay or deductible. If you are without insurance, the cost as low as $5 per session, subject to income qualifications and insurance coverage.
Cigna is accepted for any client, not limited to City of Lewisville residents.

Our counseling staff serves children, teens, college-age young adults, and adults.
The only requirement is that you are a City of Lewisville resident and are either uninsured or lack the coverage you need for counseling. Low-cost services are available for City of Lewisville residents only.
For individuals with coverage, we also accept Cigna insurance.

Meet Our Counselor
Jason Smith, LMFT-A
Jason is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist–Associate (LMFT-A) in Texas and is currently supervised by Ryan Lloyd, PhD, LMFT-S, LCDC. Jason is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space for healing and growth. He earned his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University and has been working in the mental health field since 2022. Jason has experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and adolescents, and values building genuine, collaborative relationships with those he serves.
His counseling approach is rooted in curiosity, compassion, and a nonjudgmental stance. Jason believes meaningful change begins by meeting clients where they are and understanding how their relationships and systems shape their experiences. He works alongside clients to help them identify strengths, navigate challenges, and create lasting change within their lives and families. Jason also has experience working with serious mental illness and high-risk family systems.
Outside of the therapy room, Jason enjoys listening to music, hiking, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends, which helps him stay grounded and connected to creativity and balance.
About our Community Counseling Program
Access to low-cost counseling services, especially for uninsured individuals, matters to us. We are a historically trusted resource for counseling services in Denton County and the North Texas region. This program allows us to leverage that history to offer counseling services to kids and adults in Denton County.
We have two locations to best serve Denton County. Our Community Counseling Clinic in Denton is located on our campus at 1013 Greenlee St. in Denton, Texas. We have recently opened a satellite office in Lewisville. We rent space from First Lewisville United Methodist at 907 W Main St. A private entrance is at the back of the church. Please note that all counseling services are secular.
The Community Counseling Program services for Denton Residents are funded through a grant from the City of Denton. Counseling services for City of Lewisville residents are funded through a contract with the City of Lewisville. Denton County residents, regardless of city of residence, are served through generous grants from the Flow Health Care Foundation and Coserv Charitable Foundation.
Intake Criteria
The Cumberland Youth & Family Services Lewisville Community Counseling Clinic accepts counseling clients insured by Cigna or uninsured clients in the City of Lewisville.
We also accept residents in any county who are covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Ambetter, and Superior.
