Community in Action: Slick City Denton & She Supply

‍ ‍At Cumberland Youth & Family Services, we are continually reminded that the strength of our community lies in the people and partners who show up with open hearts and a willingness to give back. Today, we are so grateful to shine a light on two of those partners who have made a meaningful impact on the families we serve.

This past holiday season, Slick City Denton created an unforgettable experience for our families in our Foster Care and Adoption and Family Residential programs by welcoming them to their facility for a special day of fun. For many of the children and parents we serve, opportunities like this are more than just an outing—they are a chance to step away from daily stressors, to laugh freely, and to simply enjoy being together. During a time of year that can often feel heavy or overwhelming, this day brought lightness, connection, and memories that will not soon be forgotten.

But their impact didn’t stop there. From backpack and school supply drives to canned food drives, Slick City supports our clients in meaningful ways.

But their impact didn’t stop there. From backpack and school supply drives to canned food drives, Slick City supports our clients in meaningful ways.

Slick City Denton’s generosity extended even further through a large-scale canned food drive, collecting more than 2,400 canned food items. Their initiative not only provided immediate relief for families facing food insecurity, but it also sparked something even bigger within our own walls. Inspired by this act of generosity, the director of our Counseling Program launched a food pantry within our counseling building. Individuals and families who come for counseling services can now also leave with essential items, removing barriers and meeting needs in a more holistic, compassionate way.

What began as a single act of giving has now grown into a sustainable source of care and resources for others.

We are also deeply grateful to She Supply for their partnership and generosity. They are a long-time supporter of Cumberland, and through their donation of period products, one of our residents and clients’ most essential needs is met. One that is often overlooked, but vital. These items are available free of charge to all, including our counseling clients, helping ensure dignity, comfort, and access to basic necessities.

Together, these partnerships reflect what is possible when businesses and organizations come together with a shared commitment to caring for the community. Their compassion has created not just moments of joy, but lasting resources that continue to support individuals and families every day.

We are so grateful for partners like Slick City Denton and She Supply, and so many others, whose generosity and heart for others help us continue creating safe places to call home.

If you or your business have ever considered getting involved, know that even a single act of kindness can grow into something far greater than expected. We are always grateful to welcome new partners into this work of caring for our community together.
